The Toulouse-based archivist shares the boots that never leave her feet, a French pharmacy favorite, her go-to scent, and how her style has evolved since moving abroad.
Ooh, thank you for teaching me about Lee Miller’s War! And Eric Rohmer too!
A note about the Manicurist polish: some colors definitely need a top coat or else there’s no chance they survive even a few hours without chipping (like the peach color, and the nudes). The red and orange-y hues have been super solid though, in my experience!
Loved reading this as Absolument is a fave substack! Kelsey, any tips for making clip on earrings more comfortable? Especially vintage ones have been painful when I’ve tried.
Gosh, the clip on earrings don't usually make it too long on my ears. Which is why they usually end up migrating somewhere else in my outfit! I am so used to wearing zero jewelry, so it's been a big (yet exciting) adjustment for my way of dressing! I'll let you know when I've figured out the trick. :)
It’s very possible that clip on earrings are simply uncomfortable by definition and the magic tip is that they need to migrate elsewhere on one’s outfit at some point during the day (which is a fun tip actually!) If I do find a solution, I’ll definitely share it as well!
Ok Kelsey is my kindred spirit! The coolest job! I cried when I visited the Eames house in LA back in 2017…and I cried when I visited Finn Juhls house when we lived in CPH! I also love her picks - manicurist is a fave too. What a delightful read! Laura you pick the best brains! ♥️👏🏻♥️
Oh my goodness! Wait, there's a good chance I was working during your visit!! Really glad you got to experience the rare beauty of the Eames House, and also Finn Juhl's home!
Great picks!
I recommend “Lee Miller’s War” as well.
I feel like Eric Rohmer films have the best “French style”, everyone looks like they are wearing their own clothes.
Certainly going to check that fragrance line out, and I’ve been wanting to try that nail polish so now I think I have too, haha.

I love the idea of migrating clip ons ☺️
